Who can volunteer?
Anyone can volunteer, at the Volunteer
Centre Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde we are committed to Equal Opportunities and
believe that everyone can volunteer.
Does Volunteering Affect State Benefits?
One of the most frequently asked questions is 'Will volunteering affect my benefits?'
The answer is NO!
If you are on Job Seekers Allowance you can volunteer as much as you like but must be actively looking for work and available for interviews for jobs or with your Job Centre Advisor.
If you claim Income Support volunteering should not affect you as long as you are not receiving any money other than reimbursement of expenses.
If you are in receipt of Incapacity Benefit you can volunteer as much as you would like to.
We do advise that you inform the Job Centre if you are in receipt of any State Benefit and volunteering.

Easy! log onto www.do-it.org.uk look at all of our latest volunteering opportunities.
Alternatively you can visit the centre
for a one-to-one informal chat with an advisor, we offer a free advice and
matching service to help you choose the volunteering options that are best for
you. We hold drop in sessions Monday to Friday 10:00am - 1:00pm when you can
just call in without an appointment to discuss volunteering
opportunities.
We also can offer a confidential
space for your chat please telephone the centre to arrange an
appointment.
